Man City Trying to Tempt Puyol

Manchester City owner Sulayman Al-Fahim has targetted El Capitan in a bid to strengthen his club's defense.

According to El Mundo, the reason Puyol has not yet signed a deal with Barcelona is that Manchester City have made a new multi-million euro proposal. According to this, Puyol would get a salary of 8 million euros net for a period of three years.

The paper also goes onto say that Puyol is no longer as indespensible to Barcelona as he once was. The club's pursuit of Chirginskyi and Bruno Alves has given more ground to these rumours.

It is of course, possible that Puyol will accept Barcelona's renewal offer. However, there is also a possibility that he will not renew this year, like Pep Guardiola, and stay on till 2010, after which he would take a call on his future again.

I'm with you on this one. Barring an upheaval in 2010 due to the election, I don't think Puyol will even consider the offer for now, IMO.

Yes, but I hope he also does not consider Man City's proposal...

And destroy his Barca legend status? I don't know.

If he's thinking of money he better do it now before Platini and co sets their proposed salary/transfer limit.
